Spring in the air. Oh wait, no it isn't.
Posted by Jess in Day to Day

There's just something a little disconcerting about observing Daylight Saving Time, and then having a snowstorm the very next day.

(And I'm not talking about disconcerting in the fact that they call it 'observing', yet I have to physically change my clock. Don't get me started. :-)

It's just strange when it's 7PM outside, yet it's still bright enough to see, and it's snowing. Some of our neighbors have some cheery spring front door decorations now, and it's snowing. We bought shrubs to landscape our front yard last week, and now it's snowing.

However, I think the main reason I'm so thrown off course is because of what Daylight Saving Time usually means for me. It's SPRING. It's a tangible way to start one of my favorite seasons, that of rejuvenation, energy, and hope.

We'll see what the week brings.

Y'know, a double shot of espresso usually brings rejuvenation, energy, and hope :-) ...regardlesss of the weather!

LOL... sure, but only when I have it in the morning. Any more after that, and it brings anxiety, despair and nervousness. :-P

Unless it's a Friday or Saturday, when I know I can sleep in the next morning. Then I treat myself to an extra cup at lunchtime!

My problem with this unexpected blast was the fact that my wife and I put all of our winter clothes in storage last week. I've been going to work these past few days in light-weight khakis, polo shirts and a spring zip-jacket.

It's so hard, once you take off that winter jacket, the LAST thing you want to do is put it back one "just one last time".

Well, I am an eternal extreme optimist, so at the very least, I hope this means that my grass will be nice and green this year what with the plentiful watering it's getting. This is my first full summer in my first house, so I'm not really sure how to judge how it's doing in the springtime! :-)

Catching up on my blog reading now that I'm back from NOLA -- and boy was it COLD there. 40s at night, 50s in the daytime, which isn't cold to those of you who live where it snows, but for us transplanted-to-southern-California Texans, who didn't bring anything warmer than a cotton sweater to the place it's supposed to be hot and muggy... well, it was cold. :-(

Now I'm home. In what should be warm, sunny, SD? And it's 55 and raining. What the heck?
