Divison Street
Posted by Jess in Geek Humor

One of the reasons I always wanted a digital camera was for those times you always say, "Geez, I wish I had a camera right now!"

Lucky for me, the one Matt chose is small enough for me to carry on with me at all times. This little gem is something I've wanted a picture of since we came to Rhode Island.

So what's so special about Division street? The fact that there are two exits for it? You can also make your own "signs" on the web.... Ned B had this link a few weeks ago and it's pretty kewl... http://www.kurumi.com/roads/signmaker/signmaker.html

Must be a bad picture (well, we were going ~75 at the time).

The exit 8A and B have a division sign instead of a dash between them... and it's reflective, meaning it was done at the time the sign was manufactured. :-)

It shows just fine in the picture - probably just another case of seeing what one expects to see. It makes no sense, though, unless there were signs further upstream giving the values for A and B. Does your state allow floating-point interchanges? See what happens in a slowish economy -- people who are capable of committing mathematical puns wind up painting road signs....

The state used to allow it, but ran into too many runtime violations. :-)

where IS that sign??

The sign is on Rt. 4 in Rhode Island about 1/2 mile before merging with 95N.

I'm always surprised at the amount of RI'ers that have never noticed it!

Jess :-)
