Sweet! Congratulations!

Posted by: Scott Gentzen at December 11, 2006 10:19 PM

OK... so you got a new iPod MiniNano. But I don't recognize that tune. What band is it? ;-)

P.S Congratulations!!

Posted by: Andrew Kelly at December 11, 2006 11:58 PM

BIG congratulations to both of you (and Reboot of course). Excellent news :o)

Posted by: Ben Poole at December 12, 2006 04:27 AM

That's awesome guys! Congratulations!

I got wind of this first looking at my flickr contacts page and saw the above picture!

I just about jumped out of my seat!

Posted by: Phil Randolph at December 12, 2006 08:06 AM

Awesome!! Congratulations to you both!

Posted by: Chris Whisonant at December 12, 2006 08:08 AM

Thanks everyone!!
(LOL Rich)
We are very excited.
Although is it sad that one thing I thought of was, "how am I ever going to make it through Lotusphere without being able to chug coffee all day?" :-)

And as for Reboot, well, we think she knew before we did, based on her behavior lately. Just little things, but enough to tell us that she definately knew!

Posted by: Jess Stratton at December 12, 2006 08:19 AM

We are both very exicted. I am even more surprised that in the 15 minute drive to work, there were 10 comments! Thanks everyone for the comments and I am sure there will be more as the day goes on.

Posted by: Matt at December 12, 2006 08:34 AM

Correction... you guys had plenty of time :-P I thought Jess posted this this morning. She just "told" me this morning. My pre-coffee posting should really be regulated

Posted by: Matt at December 12, 2006 09:28 AM

Wow! Congrats Jess and Matt (and Reboot)!! This will be big big news in the MINI community once you let everyone know! :)

Posted by: Sheena Vanderley at December 12, 2006 12:54 PM

Hey, congrats you two. I wonder if Schroth makes racing baby seats? You'll definitely have to get the peanut a helmet, regardless! :-)

Posted by: blalor at December 12, 2006 12:59 PM

As already emailed, you guys will be awesome parents. Do let me know if you need help coming up with names. As evidence of the skill you could tap into, our cats are Jeebus and Quidjibo ...think of the possibilities! Maybe something like Dweezil. Or has that been done?

In addition to Jess not guzzling caffeine during Lotusphere, it's also hard to imagine Jess drinking only water or decaf tea or something while dining on sushi and watching Matt consume the saki bombs :)

Ah, the sacrifices for family have already begun!.

Posted by: Joe Litton at December 12, 2006 01:25 PM

LOL Joe! As well as caffeine, I won't be able to have sushi either. At least anything raw (read: good). At least our sushi bills will be considerably cheaper now, so we have that going for us. :-)

Posted by: Jess at December 12, 2006 01:50 PM

Congrats :)

Posted by: John Head at December 12, 2006 02:24 PM

WOW! Very exciting!
Best wishes to all of you. It's a magical time.

Posted by: Curt Stone at December 12, 2006 03:34 PM

sweetie, after the third month you can have some coffee, just not a gallon at a time! :-) *smooch*

Posted by: Cindy at December 12, 2006 06:03 PM

lol, Oh, I'm having coffee now, just one cup instead of, say, 5. :-)

Posted by: Jess at December 12, 2006 08:45 PM

Very many congratulations to you both. Woo Hoo!!

Sorry for being late to the party, but we have been away for a few days and out of contact with the virtual world!

Lots of love and so looking forward to catching up with you at Lotusphere.

Posted by: Kitty & Warren at December 13, 2006 06:40 AM

Congrats! I feel worse for Eloise than Reboot, though, since you'll probably miss most of the racing season next year. ;)

Posted by: Don McNally at December 13, 2006 07:24 AM

Congrats Jess (Long time no talk to sorry)
John

Posted by: John Coolidge at December 13, 2006 09:52 AM

Great News Jess. All the best to you both.

Posted by: Carolyn at December 13, 2006 11:59 AM

JESS! MATT!

WOO HOO! I'm so happy for both of you. That is absolutely awesome. Glad you'll still be coming to Lotusphere. I offer to poke you in the arm everytime you fall asleep due to lack of caffeine!!

You guys will love being parents, and I don't think I know another set of people that will be better at it.

Congrats again!

Congratulations Jess. I got here by clicking the link you left on my site today where I was talking about our new arrival. I can't describe the joy it brings. You'll have to wait nine months to find out!

Congrats Jess & Matt! I couldn't be happier for you both.

Posted by: Kelly Reynolds at December 16, 2006 07:41 PM

Sorry I'm late to post.
Congratulations. That is fantastic news.
As a parent, I can tell you that you will experience moments of pure terror and pure joy that will not even begin to compare to anything you've ever felt before.

Here's a bit of poetry for the little gaffer, to maybe tuck away in the ol' baby book until the kidling is old enough to read it.

"Welcome to the World Little One

Welcome to the noise and the light, the frenzy and confusion.
So different from the warm and safe world from which you departed when you were born.
There is peace in silence and in this world, there are still some warm safe places.

Don't ever lose yourself.
Learn and grow and love people.
They are basically good, no matter what you may hear.
Be ready to listen to others, including people you don't think are worthy; everyone has a story to tell.
There are those who would sap expressions of joy and life in this world,
but they can and should be avoided.

You are who you are. Accept and love your uniqueness.

Achieve your goals, but always be ready with more plans.
Sometimes it's fun to just dream.
But if you want to achieve those dreams, be ready to work for them.
The harder the effort, the sweeter the victory

Do what you love, and choose to love what you do.
Life is choice.
Be cautious, but remember that there are heroes everywhere.
When the time comes, they won't be cautious.
Heroes are made by circumstance and choice, they are not born.
When time asks for a volunteer, you'll be a hero too.

Be yourself, but temper that with concern for others.
Someone (or many) will come to respect and admire you one day, without your knowledge.

The secret to love is, if you make others feel better about themselves when they are near you,
they'll always want to be near you.
If you are genuine in your expressions of love, people will respond in kind.

Live joyously for today, and tomorrow, for every day is a gift.

When in dark times, there is always a way out, but sometimes you'll need help to find it.
It's o.k. to ask for help.
It's o.k. to say "I don't know", as long as you know where to go to find answers.
We are always our own worst critics. Strive to meet your goals, but be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of love.
You are wanted.
You may have some gifts in common with your parents but never fear,
you are unique and special in this world.

God watches you. He is smiling on you.

There are no bad people, just bad choices.
Every day is a new day, fresh and full of promise and new choices to be made.

And whatever you do and whatever you dream, in this noisy fast-paced world,
find that peaceful place – that warm safe sanctuary.
Life can be hard sometimes, but it is beautiful.
The moments of sheer beauty & joy outweigh any pain you might have to suffer to achieve those moments.
The world is more beautiful, now that you are in it.

Welcome to the world, little one.

Many congrats Jess and Matt. Hope all goes smoothly.

Neil

p.s. a guard rail around the fire pit might be a good idea!

Posted by: Cousin Neil at December 19, 2006 08:48 AM

Nah... all it takes is one spill *into* the firepit and the kid learns. THey will REALLY learn if we light it first! :-)

Posted by: Matt at December 19, 2006 09:24 AM

Very special news, congrats to you both. That is going to be one fine-looking child!

Posted by: Ed Brill at December 19, 2006 05:29 PM

Woo-hoo! Congratulations! I stopped by expecting to read something about your Mini. Soon, you'll be posting about your other mini. :-)
All the best to you.

Posted by: Karen Demerly at December 19, 2006 10:47 PM

Congratulations! You will find that time is going to fly. I still remember when we got the same results, and now the oldest just got his temporary drivers license. *whew*

BTW - Will the car seat fit in the Mini? :-)

Posted by: Gregg Eldred at December 20, 2006 11:03 PM

OK, I know have been head deep in travels and some work projects, but who knew Mini's could actually produce offspring? I mean, does that mechanic dude make rims that small? what size shocks will it take? Did you have to get the first oil drop of the morning to see if it was pregnant? What other mini is the dad?

cmon these are things I wanna know!

congrats you two! I am with Joe L, let us suggest some names. I humorously suggest the first name Briggs, merging a name to be the maker of fine gas engines. almost fitting. :-)

Posted by: Chris Miller at December 22, 2006 02:24 PM

Great news Jess - congratulations to you both

Posted by: Paul Mooney at December 24, 2006 10:08 AM

Way late, but MAJOR congrats. Couldn't happen to nicer people.

Posted by: Stan Rogers at December 28, 2006 04:26 PM

Oh wow, this is great news. I'm sorry I'm posting so late - haven't been reading blogs at all over the holidays. CONGRATS! And I'm super glad you are coming to Lotusphere. Hope to meet you soon there, then. :)
