Lotusphere Updates...
Posted by Jess in Lotusphere2007

That time of year is upon us - Lotusphere, or as I like to call it what it really is - Camp for Adults.

Here's some quickies I've been meaning to blog about!

- You'll be able to find me (and Matt) hanging around the OpenNTF.org booth in the vendor showcase quite a lot.

- I'm also pleased to announce that I'm helping co-host LotusUserGroup.org's Live from Lotusphere annual coverage! I'll be blogging on their site, and watch for podcast interviews, specifically the "2 Minutes With" series that were very popular last year. I may have already tagged you for an interview. I'm in the process of scheduling them all as we speak.

- Nathan Freeman
, in preparation of his Lotusphere session on designing effective interfaces for client UI's, has given us this little gem - pass it on!

- I was honored to be interviewed for a podcast with Chris Miller of IDoNotes fame. We talk about my Solace operations, and a little bit about Notes 8. Download and listen to the podcast here!

- Speaking of Chris Miller, he has quietly gone and published a book on Sametime installation, configuration and administration. Great job, Chris! Get it here.

- Finally, no ask no reward. If there is anyone who does not plan on using their Lotusphere backpack after the show and would consider donating it to myself, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am going as a vendor this year and will not be receiving one. However, I use them to the point where last year's is just starting to give out on me. They are wonderful for helping me carry two laptops back and forth to my office.

Besides, admit it - it could end up being the coolest diaper bag you'll ever see!

Five things you don't know about me...
Posted by Jess in Day to Day

Ed started it, and the meme's going around. Greyhawk tagged me, so now it's my turn. I have NO idea if these are things you don't know about me. My blog hasn't exactly been my life under lock-and-key, and I chat with you all regularly, so who knows. :-)

1. I'm quite good at interior decorating. I've been known to paint a lot of my own furniture at the drop of a hat when I feel like changing the look of a room, and I've been told I have a good eye for color and accessorising.

2. I was a good musician before college. My brother and dad are both musicians, and I always had a music studio available to use in my basement growing up. I wrote my own songs on the keyboard, and my brother introduced me to the music of the keyboard legends themselves, Rick Wakeman of Yes and Keith Emerson of ELP - I've been a fan ever since hearing them. I played the Fur Elise at my middle school graduation. I had a small band in college before the damned schoolwork made playing next to impossible. Though I still own one, I haven't touched the keyboard since.

3. I am on the Advisory Council and volunteer many hours a month for SHO, a non-profit that partners volunteers with needed agencies. I also run their computer network on a volunteer basis.

4. Matt and I met by literally bumping into each other in the hallway in our dorm freshman year at college. We stayed up all night talking, and have never been apart since that day, except for the first Lotusphere I went to, and his trip to Japan a few years ago.

5. At least once a month I get a marriage proposal in jest from both strangers and people I already know. They usually come after I've done one of the following: belch, spit, flash my d20 dice pendant, ask if a movie is available in Letterbox, DTS or
Superbit, talk about my dream to have a band called "Checksum", or fix their computer for them. Sigh.

Next victims? I tag Jonvon, Bruce, Julian, and of course Matt, who hasn't posted in about a year, so he's due!
