Music CDs - Try Before You Buy
You just purchased a CD only to find out that it wasn’t as good as you thought it would be. Oops, it was a live recording and you didn’t realize it when you bought it! You mean there is more than one version of the same song? Hey! I didn’t want the “extended dance remix”! What’s THAT all about?
If any of the above scenarios have ever happened to you when you’ve bought a music CD, there’s good news for your future purchases. You can now listen to samples of just about every track on a CD online before you buy it, along with complete track listings.
Both Amazon.com and CD Now contain full track listings and 30 seconds to one minute sound clips for almost every album they sell.
Click here to go directly to an example of how to listen to song samples online. You have several choices of the media to use to listen to the songs, and it depends on what software you have on your computer. The easiest way to find out which you have is to try them all! If a program opens up and starts downloading the song, you have the application it needs.
If you don’t have any program to listen to the samples, click on the following links to get them. You can get all of them or choose just one, it’s up to you. They are all different forms of media to listen to music on the computer (much like the difference in a CD and a cassette tape. They both play music, but you can’t play a cassette tape in a CD player, and vice versa).
Real Player for Real Audio.
Windows Media Player for Windows Media files.
Winamp for MPEG files.
If you are still having trouble, you can access the help file for listening to music samples on Amazon.com. Or, if you prefer CD Now, you can access their help file here.
After you have downloaded the programs you need to listen to the music, it’s as easy as clicking on the links to listen to samples. So go ahead, try before you buy! Whether you buy online right there, or buy later at the store, may you never again purchase a CD of your favorite artist only to find out it was spoken word…
